If you are a regular reader of our Smart Publications enewsletter or blog, you will have noticed that I haven't posted in several months. Why? Mostly because I've been too busy with another, very exciting, business deal (but that is a story I will tell you much more about later.)
Now, however, I have new information about a particular hormone and this was just too interesting for me to set aside until later. So I found the time to create and post this article. This is about oxytocin, a hormone which has been called the "bonding hormone." It actually seems to be a key to causing the brain to imprint on another person, forming a social bond. But this is not the part that is new...
It turns out that many people with anxiety, depression, poor social bonding or sexual difficulties are low in oxytocin and you can use low doses of oxytocin as a natural supplement (like you would melatonin or DHEA). It is safe and natural (good for you, actually) and now available without a prescription.
According to Dr. Thierry Hertoghe, a leading anti-aging physician practicing in Brussels who has experimented with supplemental oxytocin:
"After oxytocin I was enjoying chatting with people. So it seemed like oxytocin made me more sociable and warm-hearted. It made me much more attached [to his wife] in a romantic way; the attachment was a deep warm-hearted feeling. In my experience, in most of my patients and myself using it, it works to increase all relationships that you have."
My own experience with oxytocin has been very interesting. When I take it I am much more likely to be generous and trusting! Once, at a dinner party I hosted, my friends started commenting that I seemed warmer and more "connected". That same evening, I also found myself giving away a great deal of the vitamins and herbs I had in stock. I realized then that you might want to be a little bit careful about when, and with whom, you take oxytocin. With you good friends or partner: yes. With untrustworthy snakes who you know would take advantage of you should you become too trusting: no.
