Chromium: An Effective Treatment for Diabetes and Insulin Resistance!

Facts about diabetes

Diabetes is a serious disease that leads to potentially life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.

  • 24 million children and adults in the United States live with diabetes
  • 57 million Americans are at risk for type 2 diabetes
  • 1 out of every 3 children born today will face a future with diabetes if current trends continue.

The good news is that you can prevent type 2 diabetes by:

  • Eating a nutritious, whole-foods diet low in carbs and sugary foods
  • Exercising on a regular basis
  • Taking a nutritional supplement(s) containing Chromium, Cinnamon, Bananba, Gymnema sylvestre, Green tea extract, Bitter melon

Type 1 diabetes vs. type 2 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes, also called diabetes mellitus, is caused by lack of insulin secretion from the beta cells of the pancreas. The beta cells are either damaged by a viral infection or from an autoimmune response in which they are destroyed by antibodies. The disease is sometimes hereditary, and if an immediate family member has the disease you have a 1 in 20 chance of getting it. Onset typically occurs in childhood throughout early adulthood.

Type 2 diabetes is also called non-insulin dependent diabetes (and used to be called adult-onset diabetes) and accounts for 80 to 90 percent of all cases of diabetes. It is usually a result of insulin resistance, caused by high levels of glucose in the blood. What happens is this: when your diet is filled with lots of soft drinks and carbs, including breads, pastries and other nutrient-deficient junk foods, your pancreas floods your body with high levels of insulin to lower the high levels of glucose. After years of eating the standard American diet (SAD), and having to deal with chronically high levels of glucose, your cells become resistant to the insulin, which becomes less effective. And if you don’t get the situation under control, you might have to resort to taking insulin.

You can prevent and/or reverse type 2 diabetes. Start by making some lifestyle changes and by adding chromium to your daily health regimen.

How much should you take?

200 mcg. a day of supplemental chromium is enough for those who are mildly glucose intolerant. If you have diabetes and want dramatic results take 1000 mcg. per day.
