About “Us”

Introducing Us Smart.

In today’s political environment, we the people are losing ground. Whether you’re on the right or left, up or down on where we are heading, or have chosen to withdraw from any part of the conversation, it’s hard not to notice. We’re losing focus on individuals, losing focus on us.

Nowhere is this more obvious than health care, or more specifically, the pharmaceutical markets. What we are told and prescribed is first dictated by financial projection, and then by investment, in support of capitalism. And while this is a great system supporting industrial advancement, it can leave some good ideas, and some of us good people behind.

Many natural methods we once used to support health have been replaced with synthetic patented drugs. The once valid argument of protecting and supporting investment in research to supply the masses with needed medicines is now overshadowed with the cost of patent protection and government oversight, as well as the need to meet market expectations.

As drug patents expire, so does the incentive to manufacture, promote, and distribute. The profits will be in what’s next, not what is – or was.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Did the drugs of yesteryear stop working?
    • Usually not.
  • Will the drugs of tomorrow out perform the drugs of today?
    • Maybe . . . most likely from an investor standpoint.
  • Has the idea of continuous improvement moved away from the product to focus only on the money?
    • Not completely, but it is the money that is the first consideration. And without a windfall in that consideration, the product simply won’t follow.

Here are parts of a conversation once overheard:

“We have developed a cure for XXXXXXXX which is a rare crippling disease”
“You said rare, how rare?”
“XXXXXXX people contract this annually”
“Not enough, what else do you have?”

Was this a greedy entrepreneur with no morals? No, just a knowledgeable business person that knows the cost of FDA approval and current patent laws do not allow for a compassionate approach.

We’ve all heard the expression “money makes the world go round.” How about a new phrase “big money brings our health care down?”

The goal of Us Smart Publications is to provide alternative health care information for us – for all of us.

Best in health,
